Organization of Associations for the Development of Western Territories in universities in Opole (1959–1970)
Abstract
In 1957 was created an organization called Association for the Development of Western Territories (ADWT) which purpose was informing about territories located east of Oder and Lusatian Neisse, which was annexed to Poland after World War II. Association since 1959 had a branch in Higher Pedagogical School in Opole, and also since 1967 in Higher School of Engineering in Opole. Participating students were involved in lectures and conferences devoted to connection of the western land with Polishness before and after World War II. Lecture was also about the problem of the aspiration of the Federal Republic of Germany and its allies to restore these areas to German suzerainty. Students also organized lectures and entertainment events. The activities of both student organizations ceased in 1970 after the dissolution of ADWT.
