Abstract
Kultura studencka od dawna stanowi istotny element akademickiego dziedzictwa, kształtując tożsamość uczelni oraz integrując kolejne pokolenia żaków. Niniejszy numer otwiera zbiór artykułów związanych z obyczajowością, tradycjami, językiem, twórczością oraz formami zrzeszania się studentów w różnych epokach i środowiskach akademickich. Rozpoczynający tom tekst autorstwa Andrzeja Gielarowskiego wysuwa tezę, iż kultura studencka może być interpretowana w kategoriach teorii rytuałów przejścia, którą wypracował Arnold van Gennep w Obrzędach przejścia, a rozwinął, skupiając się na badaniu fazy przejściowej (liminalnej) rytuału, Victor Turner (m.in. w Procesie rytualnym). Autor wskazuje na przykłady obrzędowości studenckiej, które można uznać za rytuały przejścia ze względu na występowanie u uczestników tych obrzędów doświadczenia wspólnoty, które Turner opisuje jako doświadczenie communitas. Doświadczenie to stanowi istotny element fazy przejściowej (liminalnej) każdego rytuału przejścia.
