Biography:

Pasquale Pazienza attained his first degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Bari (Italy). At postgraduate level, he gained his MSc in Environmental Economics from the University of York (UK) and a PhD in Policies for Territorial Sustainable Development from the University of Bari (Italy). He also gained a PhD in Economics from the University of Durham (UK). At present, he is full professor of economic policy at Department of Economics of the University of Foggia (Italy) where he also teaches Economic and Policies of the European Union and carries out his research activity in the following areas of interest: the environmental impact of investment and globalisation, energy policy, sustainable local development as related to tourism and agriculture. He also teaches other economic courses abroad in other European universities. He has been a member of various European and international research teams. In addition to his academic commitments, he has previously worked as a consultant for various local socio-economic development plans in southern Italy and has been a member of a local government board. At present, he is committed to the presidency of the Gargano national Park.

Breve nota biografica.

Pasquale PAZIENZA ha conseguito il MSc in “Environmental Economics” presso la University of York (UK) e il titolo di Dottore di ricerca in “Politiche per lo sviluppo sostenibile del territorio” presso l’Università degli Studi di Bari (Italia). Egli ha anche conseguito il titolo di PhD in Economics presso la University of Durham (UK). Attualmente egli è professore ordinario di politica economica presso il Dipartimento di Economia dell’Università di Foggia (Italia), dove insegna pure Economia e Politiche dell’Unione Europea e dove svolge la sua attività di ricerca nelle seguenti aree tematiche di interesse: l’impatto ambientale degli investimenti e della globalizzazione, la politica energetica, lo sviluppo locale sostenibile in relazione particolare al turismo e all’agricoltura. Egli insegna corsi di economia anche presso sedi universitarie estere. E’ stato componente di vari team di ricerca europei e internazionali. In aggiunta ai suoi impegni accademici, egli ha lavorato come consulente nell’ambito di vari programmi di sviluppo locale e ha ricoperto posizioni di responsabilità di governo presso istituzioni locali. Ad oggi ricopre il ruolo di presidente dell’Ente parco nazionale del Gargano.
