"Transformations: Space in Culture, Literature, and Language"

Call for papers do 56 numeru „Perspektyw Kultury” (1/2027)

As the world today faces various challenges and contingencies generated by globalisation, political instability, and a major environmental crisis, the volume explores the ongoing transformation and the ensuing re-conceptualisation of space. We welcome papers exploring the theme of spatial transformations within the fields of literary, linguistic, and culture studies. The volume addresses change in the broad context, ranging from geopolitical re-definitions of borders to the binaries such as local/global, domestic/foreign, or communal/individual, with the transformations registered as a dis/continuation of certain trends, attitudes, or currents. With these perspectives in mind, the editors wish to encourage a scholarly reflection on caesuras and continuities discernible in culture, language, and literature. Topics may include but are not limited to:

– theoretical conceptualisations of space;
– lines, borders, and landscapes: progress, regress, evolution, and revolution in history, literature, philosophy, and the educational sciences with regard to space;
– demarcating space across disciplines;
– inner vs. outer space: caesuras and continuities in language, literature, and culture;
– semantics of spatial transformation as applied in linguistic and literary studies;
– transformative changes in genres, modes, and other typologies;
– narrative transformations in creating/rendering space (narrative patterns, plot structures etc.);
– (trans)formations of the human: man and/within nature;
– post-anthropocentric space transformation.
