"Miscellanea Turcica et Orientalia"

Call for papers to Issue 50 of Perspectives on Culture (3/2025)

In every era and on every continent, encounters between cultures provide a space for intellectual, artistic, and spiritual exchange. Turkish culture, situated within the realm of oriental cultures, has evolved over centuries through interactions with various civilizational patterns, simultaneously influencing their forms. Consequently, it has engaged in a global cultural discourse, reflected in language, literature, art, history, and philosophy.

We encourage conttributions that embrace diverse perspectives, ranging from historical, literary, and linguistic analyses to cultural and societal considerations, on top of philosophical and religious reflections. We are particularly interested in works addressing:
- Interpretation and analysis of classical and contemporary texts within Turkish and oriental culture,
- Studies on the influence of Turkish and oriental culture on other cultures and societies,
- Socio-political and historical analyses concerning Turkey and oriental countries,
- Studies on contemporary cultural, educational, and social phenomena within the context of Turkic and Oriental studies,
- Considerations on the role of women, education, art, literature, and science in Turkish and oriental cultures.

We invite multifaceted reflections on the impact of Turkish and oriental culture on the contemporary world, exploring their symbolic meanings not only in literature and art but primarily in phenomena such as intercultural dialogue, adaptation, the creation and contestation of cultural reality through the prism of language, literature, history, philosophy, religion, and society.

"Jezuickie dziedzictwo kulturowe Krakowa i Małopolski"

Call for papers to Issue 51 of Perspectives on Culture (4/2025)

In this issue of Perspectives on Culture, we propose to focus on the centuries-old connections between the Society of Jesus and the cultural history of various regions of Poland, Europe, and the world—with particular emphasis on Kraków and Małopolska. We are interested in all Jesuit “traces” in the cultural landscape, including the destinies of individuals, the histories of institutions, artistic culture, and their interpretations and reinterpretations, all of which co-create both the tangible and intangible dimensions of cultural heritage.

This Jesuit-related heritage encompasses the significance of specific places and sites, social institutions, and the people who create and function within them, as well as historically shaped ties, traditions, and customs. Viewed from both historical and contemporary perspectives, this heritage conveys universal values that remain relevant today. It contributes to a fuller understanding of the past, helps shape cultural identity, and, above all, fosters discourse on the cultural role of the Society of Jesus.

We welcome interdisciplinary reflections on the many dimensions of Jesuit heritage—broadly understood—including its cultural, historical, literary, religious, educational, and philosophical aspects.
