Call for Papers: EETP Vol. 21. No 4(84) 2026: Literary Education of a Child at the Beginning of the 21st Century

2025-12-01

Literary education of a child forms their later attitude towards culture and art. Literary works, both prose and poetry, raise various topics, contain rich artistic means, convey meanings and patterns of behaviour, build worlds that can strongly influence the imagination of a young reader. Nowadays, issues related to upbringing of a young child through art are particularly interesting in the context of their educational situation. A significant role in the child’s development is played by aesthetic experiences related to their contact with literary content.

Therefore, theoretical reflections on reading choices and methods of working with literary texts at the preschool and primary school levels rise in importance. What needs to be taken into account are the themes, trends, tendencies and schools of thought that have emerged in children's literature in recent decades, as well as the research results related to the reception of literature and its use in education. Our goal is to draw attention to contemporary children's literature as an area important for the development of culture. In addition to theoretical observations, we are also interested in empirical data relating to potential impacts of teaching, patterns of reception  or the activity of a child as a participant in the act of reading.
