Call for Papers: EETP Vol. 20. No 2(77) 2025. Children's Mental and Physical Well-being in the Polish Educational System

2024-07-11

The concept of child well-being is rarely the subject of pedagogical research. Determining it precisely causes many problems for researchers. In the narrow sense adopted in medicine and clinical psychology, well-being is sometimes understood as the absence of negative symptoms/conditions such as stress, depression, anxiety. In the broader perspective of positive psychology, it refers rather to the beneficial elements of the situations in which a person functions. Martin E. P. Seligman believes that the basis of well-being is primarily the sense of agency/ perceived self-efficacy, i.e. possessing and using personal resources to realize one's own potential and living in accordance with one's own Self. From this perspective, the terms: psychological well-being, quality of life, sense of happiness or satisfaction with life can be considered synonyms. We invite researchers and practitioners to undertake a scientific reflection on the following issues:

  • What is the quality of life and sense of satisfaction of young children in Polish educational system?
  • What kind of educational environment should be built to support the development of a sense of agency, happiness and satisfaction with learning in children?
  • To what extent does Polish school support teachers' well-being?
