Application of logorhythmics in speech therapy preventive treatment
Abstract
Logorhythmics is a method that combines speech, rhythm, and music. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the possibility of using logorhythmics in preventive activities in speech therapy. The article is based on the author’s own research, the purpose of which was to determine the level of familiarity and the scope of application of this method in speech therapy prevention by speech therapists working in Małopolska, Poland, as well as to identify the advantages and limitations of logorhythmics resulting from the nature of specialists’ work. The research problem was formulated as a question concerning the place of logorhythmics in speech therapy and speech therapy prevention implemented by speech therapists. The study was conducted using the diagnostic survey method with the use of a questionnaire. Thirty-seven speech therapists working in the Małopolska region participated in the study. The results obtained indicate that the vast majority of respondents are familiar with and use logorhythmics in their work, appreciating its attractiveness, multisensory nature, and positive impact on child development. Respondents also pointed to difficulties related to the use of this method, primarily concerning inadequate facilities, a lack of musical instruments and teaching materials, as well as limited access to publications and specialist training in the field of logorhythmics. The research results confirm the value of logorhythmics in speech therapy prevention, which indicates the need for its broader dissemination and more frequent inclusion in preventive activities.
