The Socialisation Process in Multicultural Classrooms – Examples of Educational Practices
Abstract
In accordance with Polish education law, which also applies to refugee children who came to Poland with their parents, all children are subject to compulsory education. Refugee children learn the Polish language, make their first contacts, break down barriers and prejudices, and shape their personalities and attitudes at school. The research conducted in selected primary schools in Biała Podlaska district shows and describes school actions designed to facilitate the socialisation process of children studying in multicultural classrooms. A lot of factors affecting the socialisation of refugee and Polish children in a positive way were observed, which will certainly have a future impact on their personal development and the development of society.
